History

We are a contemporary footwear brand from the island of Mallorca, Spain. Founded in 1975, we are a family business with a rich shoemaking heritage that we use to create unique designs.

Founded in Mallorca in 1975, Lorenzo Fluxa created Camper to respond to the demand for a new and fresh style of footwear. With a rich heritage in shoemaking, a unique brand was created full of diversity and contrast which is now admired the world over.

Camper To&ether is a model of collaboration in which we partner with leading designers to create exclusive products and unique stores. We're proud to team up with creative thinkers from the worlds of art, fashion, and architecture to develop memorable retail experiences and push the boundaries of contemporary design.

Designed in his studio in Madrid and hand-built by him in a camper warehouse in Mallorca, the new store has been created using old wooden furniture from other Camper stores, as well as industrial metal profiles. The designer used his artisan skills to transform various pieces of old furniture from Camper stores using just three kinds of metal items easily found in any hardware store: perforated industrial profiles, brackets, and screws. Jorge Penadés has designed and built all the store’s fittings and fixtures: from the product display shelves and tables to the seating and checkout counter, to the lighting, signage, and brand logo.

Jorge Penadés is a Spanish designer born in Málaga in 1985. Coming from a family of cabinet makers he studied Interior Design in Barcelona before graduating with a MA in Product Design from IED in Madrid, where he established his own practice in 2015. His work has been shown in different institutions and galleries, such as the Vitra Design Museum, National Design Museum in Sweden, The Aram Gallery in London or The Future Perfect in New York. In 2017 he received the AD Nuevo Talento Campari Award and in 2018, the ICON Volkswagen Design Award.
